Poem by Savanna Tate
Do you like my smile? Come on admit it You see my skin? There's more come in it
Dark as the night sky, worth more than gold
No I'm not for sale but you had to know
You can't touch but you can see
What it's like to be little black me
Ever been scared cause the cops pulled you over?
Not cause you're drunk
But because your skin is bolder
Been here for 18 years and I just realized my worth
I'll do anything so all know we belong on this earth
They have always told us different
They as in the "whites"
They also try to copy what they say they "despise"
How are we too dark? But then you guys get tans
Which is literally going darker or did you still think you looked bland?
They say we look like monkeys because of our big lips
But monkeys don't have any
Look in the mirror, you're the perfect fit.
We are attention seekers because we were born with hips
We set trends
They want to be us
They just won't admit it
