Poem by Kevin Aguirre

Iron lifted into the air

Iron falls to the earth

Iron cracks the earth in half

Iron lifting and dropping

Iron language of the old Gods

Iron a language still spoken nonetheless

To lift iron and to smash the earth

To lift iron is to beautify it and turn it into real steel

Iron and its pump

Iron destroys the weak shell

Iron creates a new body that’s stronger

Iron takes clay

Iron turns clay into art

So few are willing to test themselves

So few are willing to hold iron

So few willing to lift

So few willing to see it fall

They ask . . .

So many champions, why compete?

Iron does not know of any competition

Iron does not know of any champion

Iron only knows those who are willing to lift iron

Iron only knows those who lift iron into the air

Iron only knows those who see iron fall onto the earth

The age heroes and warriors have passed us all by

But the age of the ordinary, the age of us,

The age of anyone can now be their own champion, is here

Don’t give up on your quest to lift iron

Take your time to understand iron

Find friends who can help you lift iron

Together we can lift iron
