Under the hood by Kishawn Persaud

 I remember the first time

actually working on a car by myself, I was repairing the transmission from a car,

think

was

14

and I had to release the subframe from the car

and this thing is heavy

like 120 LBS and 4 big bolts were holding it,

I was nervous but I got it down from the car.

At that moment I thought to myself,

that was the first time I actually did something by myself

that was a big deal on a car.

I was hyped that

I got it down,

but the main problem was in the transmission, so that required an extra pair of hands,

so me and my dad took that down and repaired the problem.

We ended up fixing the problem

but that came with me getting a few busted fingers

and some grease on my skin.

I was always around cars my whole life, and worked on them before but this was the first time

I

Actually

did

something

That was a big deal on a car,

and from then on I started working on my own car and fixing things and learning as I go.

Now I can remove mostly everything from a car and fix it.

I'm now the friend my friends call

when they have to fix something on their cars.

I'm glad I learned to work on my own cars

at a

young age

because I can do anything by myself

and I don't need to take my car to a shop.
